RIVER THAT MUST FLOW ON
Discovery, Friday before dawn 19th October Durga-Ashtami 3:08 AM IST
River flows. It cannot
stay static. If it does, it turns into a pond, or at the
most a lake bound by its boundaries.
River must continue to flow until it merges into the
ocean. So, am I - cannot stay static, must go on, and
on, until my soul finally dissolves into the Supreme
Soul, and loses its identity altogether, much the same
as it happens with the river as it merges into the
ocean.
River gives, it does not take. If it does gather
anything on course of its journey towards the ocean, it
gathers and gives, it gathers and gives away. It doesn't
accumulate for itself. It has no use for it all, for its
own, so it keeps unburdening itself on its way towards
its journey to the ocean. Much the same is the case with
me. I have no use for myself to accumulate anything that
I would want to say my own. On the last leg of my
journey I cannot afford to accumulate any, or else I
have to return again to take care of them.
